Psychological Profile

Basic Personality: With as many years in Starfleet as she has in retirement, Dana is a calm and rational individual with a very maternal nature. She can be somewhat critical and assertive under stressful situations. She is very opinionated and has a commanding presence which she feels she has earned over her 30 plus years of service. Often taking the role of the advocate, she is devoted to the values of peace and tranquility and keeping to the prime directive. Sometimes insecure with her recent reposting, she hides her uncertainty under a serious and matronly exterior.

History: Born to a half-latin father and a caucasian mother, Dana was raised in the same small New Mexico town that her parents grew up in. Her father was a painter and architect, while her mother was a home-maker and singer at the local bar. When Dana was 15 her family was visited by a young Starfleet officer who told her about all of the wonderful things that he had experienced while in service and how rewarding helping other life forms was for him personally. This struck a chord with her and she enlisted to Starfleet academy the following year. During her time at the academy she met and fell in love with a man named Robert Hamilton who was eight years her senior, he was already established as a part of the senior medical staff on board the S.S. Assurance. The two married when she was only 18 and they had three children together. Graduating from the academy Dana was stationed onboard the Assurance with her husband and worked her way up to the rank of second officer. After the birth of her third child she retired to raise her children back in New Mexico because she felt that space was no place to bring up a family. She stayed in new mexico for 30 years, where she worked as a teacher until the death of her husband. With her husband gone and all of her children grown with children of their own, Dana began to feel restless. She petitioned to be reenlisted into Starfleet but declined several positions as a commanding officer or admiral. She insisted that she wanted to start from where she had left off and was eventually assigned to the newly commissioned SS. Endevour, where she will serve as second in command.
