SS Endeavor would be setting out in just a few hours, and already the ship was teeming with activity...and problems.
"Commander Hadyn to Petty Officer Roberts, have you and your team managed to fix the problem with the replicators on Deck 3?"
"Negative sir, but we're working on it."
Yes, the replicators in the crew quarters on Deck 3 were all on the fritz. The damned things were replicating alright...repeatedly...and refused to stop. It was creating quite a mess (a mess that someone else would be cleaning up...his men were there to fix the problem, not do custodial work), and needed to be taken care of before the ship left station. That was a minor problem. The calibration in the engine room was off, and he and the other engineers had been struggling with the problem since Tony had left the officer's meeting the day before. That problem at least was nearly solved.
The portly chief engineer sighed, rubbing a temple, before looking back on his duty roster. On top of other things, he'd found out that some of the engineering crew had gotten mixed up in a last minute ship shuffle. The duty roster he'd had ready to go yesterday now needed to be redone. If the older gentleman was flustered, he was doing a damn good job of not showing it. Now, aside from a soft sigh he gave as he set about reworking his roster, he seemed almost apathetic to the situation.

Servoc entered the engineering deck. Hed been monitering the ships communications and looking at the ships computerized reports. It had come to his attention that there were a few problems with some of the systems. Most were being delt with but the reports did mention something about the replicators on deck three.
After looking around he located the chief engineer, Commander Tony Hadyn.
"It seems that you are experiencing some technical difficulties regarding some replicators on deck 3. It may prove intresting to check on the plasma energizers. If they are faulty then the energy field may be going unchecked. I suggest that you try by passing the energizers and tying the energy from the warp engines into the energy cells of the replicator. At the very least you would be able to control the energy input and output. And the impact on the warp drive would be extremely minimal. Even if it isnt the Energizers you would at least be able to shut power off to the replicators. Then you would not have to.... I believe the word is worry.... about the messy side effects of analyzing it other wise."
Servoc finished up and waited for the engineers response. It seemed logical. If you couldn't fix the problem at the moment, then address the side effects untill you can. In the case of the replicators, if the replicators dont turn off then bypass the main power circuit and implement another controllable power source untill you can fix it. Of course, this solution could be completely wrong but based on the information that Servoc had been monitoring he was fairly sure he was right.

((Since it looks like Servoc will be out of net acces for a bit, just going to wrap this up.))
Tony glanced up from his datapad as Endeavor's Vulcan science officer approached. Some folks might get a little...well, up tight with someone coming down and telling them how to do their job. Endeavor's chief engineer wasn't one of those folks. He scratched at his chin a moment, then set his pad down.
"Petty Officer Roberts."
"Yes, Commander?"
"Check the plasma energizers on deck 3. That just might be where the problem is with those replicators."
"Aye sir, we'll give it a try."
"Alright, report back and let me know if that's the source of the problems."
Tony fixed the Vulcan with a friendly smile. "Thanks for the tip. Hopefully that will solve the problem." The chief engineer once again picked up his datapad. "If you'll excuse me, I've got a duty roster to take care of before we depart."
((And Tony's out of this thread.))
